Some remarks on the \(R\)-matrix (Q1911619)

This paper recovers a result of \textit{S. Z. Levendorskij} and \textit{Ya. S. Soibelman} [J. Geom. Phys. 7, 241-254 (1990; Zbl 0729.17009)] which gives a presentation of the \(R\)-matrix of the quantized enveloping algebra \(U_q ({\mathfrak g})\) attached to a semisimple Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\); the author obtains a presentation which does not use the explicit formula for this matrix. As an application one also recovers a result of Drinfeld and Reshetikhin on the spectrum of the symmetric square of the \(R\)-matrix, which implies the quadraticity of the quantum algebra of functions on the flag variety. The classical version of this was proved by \textit{B. Kostant} [see J. Algebra 59, 16-38 (1979; Zbl 0441.14013)].
