The completeness problem on non-regular BVP for first order ODE on a finite interval is investigated in the paper. The asymptotic behaviour of solutions and of the characteristic determinant, for which the corresponding block matrix structure is ignored, are discussed. Then, results on completeness of the root vectors of the BVP are formulated. Some important geometric properties of the system of root functions for the dynamic generator of the Timoshenko beam model are obtained.
