The author systematically discusses a hereditary star-likeness property for planar harmonic mappings on a disk and on an annulus. Let \(\Delta\) denote the Laplace operator. It is proved that if \(f\) is a harmonic mapping of the unit disk onto a star-like region and \(\Delta\mathrm{ Im }\log f(z)=0\) for \(\sqrt{2}-1<|z|<1\), then \(f\) maps the annulus \(r<|z|<1\) onto a strictly star-like region for any \(0 < r < 1\). An analogous theorem is proved for a harmonic mapping of the annulus. The boundary behavior of a harmonic mapping between an annulus and a bounded doubly-connected region with locally connected boundary is investigated.
