The authors study the Szegő operator \(D^{\alpha}_{\theta}\) defined by the relation \(D^{\alpha}_{\theta}f_{n}(t)=\cos\theta D^{\alpha}f_{n}(t)-\sin\theta D^{\alpha}\tilde{f_{n}}(t)\) for \(\alpha, \theta \in \mathbb R,\) where \(\alpha \geq 0,\) \(D^{\alpha}f_{n}\) and \(D^{\alpha}\tilde{f_{n}}\) are the Weyl fractional derivatives of (real) order \(\alpha\) of the polynomial \(f_{n}\) and its conjugate \(\tilde{f_{n}}\). It was proved that if \(\alpha \geq n\ln 2n\), then the sharp inequality \[ \| \cos\theta D^{\alpha}f_{n}(t)-\sin\theta D^{\alpha}\tilde{f_{n}}(t)\|_{L^{p}} \leq n^{\alpha}\| f_{n} \|_{L_{p}} \] holds true on the set \({\mathcal F_{n}}\) in the spaces \(L_{p}\) for all \(p \geq 0\), where \({\mathcal F_{n}}\) is the set of trigonometric polynomials of degree \(n \geq1\) with complex coefficients. Several consequences of this result and its connection to previous results of this type in the literature are examined and discussed.
