Orbital stability of periodic waves is considered for two integrable reduced Ostrovsky equation with quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. These equations describe low-frequency internal waves in the presence of rotation. By using the conserved momentum and energy as well as an additional conserved quantity due to integrability, orbital stability of the small-amplitude periodic wave is proved for subharmonic perturbations, which have period equal to an integer multiple of the wave period. The method is based on the Lyapunov stability theorem and the convexity of the Lyapunov functional is only established thanks to the presence of several (infinitely many) conserved quantities in the integrable system. It is also shown numerically that the convexity of the Lyapunov functional holds for periodic waves of arbitrary amplitudes.
