A topological space is called proximal if there is a uniform structure inducing its topology which gives the first player in the proximal uniform space game due to J. Bell a winning strategy. It is known that a compact Hausdorff space is Corson compact if and only if it is proximal. In the present paper, the proximal (uniform) game is further analyzed topologically by applying it to the fine uniformity of an arbitrary Tychonoff space. The main result of the paper states that strong Eberlein compacts are exactly those compacts for which the first player has a (tactical) winning strategy which relies on only the most recent move of the opponent in the proximal game.
