The author proves the local uniform convergence, without the monotonicity condition, for functions in the classes \(\Gamma_{\alpha}(g)\) and \(E\Gamma_{\alpha}(g,a)\) defined in the following way: A positive, measurable function \(f\) is said to belong to the class \(\Gamma_{\alpha}(g)\) if there exists an auxiliary function \(g\) such that, as \(x\to\infty\), the following holds \(f(x+yg(x))/f(x)\to\exp(\alpha y)\), for all \(y\in R\). The auxiliary function \(g\) is positive, measurable, Beurling varying (\(g\in\Gamma_0(g)\)) and self-neglecting (\(g(x)/x\to 0\)). The class \(E\Gamma_{\alpha}(g,a)\) consists of positive and measurable functions \(f\) that satisfy \((f(x+yg(x))-f(x))/a(x)\to\alpha y\), where \(g\) is as above, \(a\)-measurable and positive, \(a\in\Gamma_0(g)\). The local uniform convergence is used to obtain representation theorems and remainder terms for several classes of functions. The results are applied to a class of differential equations and study to the motion of tagged particles.
