This article further studies the class of connective separable \(C^{\ast}\)-algebras. Being connective is a homotopy invariant property that implies being quasi-diagonal and having no non-zero projections. A nuclear \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra is connective if and only if it is homotopy symmetric, which means that its \(E\)-theory may be computed without suspensions. This article develops some necessary or sufficient criteria for being connective, especially in the nuclear case. In particular, any extension of connective separable nuclear \(C^{\ast}\)-algebras remains connective. For nuclear \(C^{\ast}\)-algebras, connectivity depends only on the homeomorphism type of the primitive ideal space. A discrete group is called connective if its augmentation ideal is connective. There are crystallographic groups that are connective and those which are not. It is studied when the reduced group \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra of a Lie group is connective. In particular, a nilpotent connected Lie group has connective group \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra if and only if it is not compact; and a linear connected real reductive Lie group is connective if and only if the group has a compact Cartan subgroup if and only if there are no non-zero projections in the reduced group \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra.
