We study the time-discrete Fokker-Planck equation with oscillating diffusion coefficients using two different numerical schemes (transport-type and weighted L2) and prove that they lead to different homogenization limits and evolution equations as the scaling parameter tends to zero. Only the weighted L2 scheme recovers the correct effective dynamics.
