We develop norm estimates for variable-stepsize $L(\alpha)$-stable peer two-step methods applied to stiff semi-linear systems with the help of grid-independent left eigenvectors, enabling the construction of suitable matrix norms for entire coefficient families. We construct novel $L(\alpha)$-stable Peer methods up to order 5 that exceed the classical stage-order barrier of irreducible diagonally-implicit Runge-Kutta methods.
