We find new asymptotics for repeated-pole rational approximations of $\exp(tz)$ on $(-\infty,0]$ by computing Chebyshev coefficients via a Möbius transformation to a polynomial approximation problem. For optimal pole placement, the best uniform error is $m^{-1/2}(\sqrt2-1)^m$, and this is matched by the Chebyshev-weighted $L^2$ projection error's profile.
