Longest convex chains
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: Assume is a random sample of uniform, independent points from a triangle . The longest convex chain, , of is defined naturally. The length of is a random variable, denoted by . In this article, we determine the order of magnitude of the expectation of . We show further that is highly concentrated around its mean, and that the longest convex chains have a limit shape.
