On characterization of inverse data in the boundary control method

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: We deal with a dynamical system egin{align*} & u_{tt}-Delta u+qu=0 && { m in},,,Omega imes (0,T)\ & uig|_{t=0}=u_tig|_{t=0}=0 && { m in},,,overline Omega\ & partial_ u u = f && { m in},,,partialOmega imes [0,T],, end{align*} where OmegasubsetmathbbRn is a bounded domain, qinLinfty(Omega) a real-valued function, u the outward normal to partialOmega, u=uf(x,t) a solution. The input/output correspondence is realized by a response operator and its relevant extension by hyperbolicity R2T. Ope-rator R2T is determined by , where OmegaT:=xinOmega,|,,mdist,(x,partialOmega)<T. The inverse problem is: Given R2T to recover q in OmegaT. We solve this problem by the boundary control method and describe the {it ne-ces-sary and sufficient} conditions on R2T, which provide its solvability.
