Abstract: For a quadratic form $varphiin{I}^{n}F$ for some $ninmathbbN$ over a field of characteristic not 2, we present several combinatorial approaches to bound the minimal number of Pfister forms $p{i}_1,ldots,p{i}_k$ with $varphiequivp{i}_1+ldots+p{i}_{k}mod{I}^{n+1}F$. We compare these bounds in several cases and rediscover in a special case a result first published by Bruno Kahn.
