Projective Equivalence for the Roots of Unity

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: Let muinftysubseteqmathbbC be the collection of roots of unity and mathcalCn:=(s1,cdots,sn)inmuinftyn:sieqsjextforany1leqi<jleqn. Two elements (s1,cdots,sn) and (t1,cdots,tn) of mathcalCn are said to be projectively equivalent if there exists gammainextPGL(2,mathbbC) such that gamma(si)=ti for any 1leqileqn. In this article, we will give a complete classification for the projectively equivalent pairs. As a consequence, we will show that the maximal length for the nontrivial projectively equivalent pairs is 14.
