Pseudo-second-order adsorption parameter estimation

From MaRDI portal

Description

Estimation of the rate constant and the equilibrium adsorption capacity of the pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetic model from time-resolved uptake measurements. The model’s analytical solution is fitted to the measured amounts adsorbed at different contact times, typically by nonlinear least-squares regression. The initial amount adsorbed is usually fixed in advance, most often at zero for an initially unloaded adsorbent. The fitted parameters describe how fast the system approaches equilibrium and how much adsorbate the adsorbent can take up at equilibrium.
