Let A be a C *-algebra, G is a discrete group and \(\alpha\) :G\(\to Aut A\) a representation of G. A map \[ \beta:K_{*-1}(A)^{\alpha}\times G\to K_*(A\rtimes_{\alpha}G)/K_*(A) \] is defined, where \(K_*(A)^{\alpha}\) is the subgroup of \(K_*(A)\) fixed by \(\alpha\) and \(K_*(A)\) on the right is the canonical image of \(K_*(A)\) in \(K_*(A\rtimes_{\alpha}G).\) Moreover, it is proven that \(\beta\) is a bihomomorphism; it follows that \(\beta\) may be considered as a homomorphism \[ \beta:K_{*- 1}(A)^{\alpha}\otimes G^{ab}\to K_*(A\rtimes_{\alpha}G)/K_*(A). \] An axiomatic characterization of \(\beta\) is presented, which allows to give conditions for the uniqueness of the Pimsner-Voiculescu map \[ K_*(A\rtimes {\mathbb{Z}})\to K_{*+1}(A). \] Another important result is the determination of the kernel of \(\beta\) for some torsion-free groups. (e.g., for all torsion-free Abelian groups).
