Let \(k\) be a field of characteristic 0, \(\bar k\) an algebraic closure, \(h\) a finite dimensional, absolutely simple, Lie algebra over \(k\) and let \(\bar h\) be the Lie algebra over \(\bar k\) obtained from \(h\) by extension of scalars. Let \(h_ A\) be the tensor product of \(h\) with \(A\), considered as a Lie algebra over \(k\), where \(A=k[x,y]/\langle px^ 2+qy^ 2-1\rangle\); here \(p\), \(q\) are non-zero elements of \(k\). Then \(h_ A\) is a \(k\)-form of the loop algebra of \(\bar h\); moreover it admits a nontrivial central extension which is a \(k\)-form of the non- twisted affine Kac-Moody algebra over \(\bar k\) corresponding to \(\bar h\).
