Review text

The author introduces a dimensionless response number in order to study the dynamic plastic response and failure of beams and plates under impulsive loading. It is claimed that this number is suitable for any boundary and loading conditions, and also describes effects of finite deflections, strain-rate sensitivity, and dynamic loads of general shape.
