In this note we mainly prove the inequality \[ \sum^ n_{k=1} (a_{k- 1}- 2a_ k+ a_{k+1})^ 2\leq 4\left(1+\cos{\pi\over n+1}\right)^ 2\sum^ n_{k=1} a^ 2_ k\tag{1} \] which holds for all real numbers \(a_ 0,a_ 1,\dots,a_ n\), \(a_{n+1}\) where \(a_ 0=a_{n+1}=0\). The constant \(4(1+\cos(\pi/(n+1)))^ 2\) given in (1) is best possible.
