Certain associative algebras similar to U(sl_ 2) and Zhu's algebra A(V_ L)
Certain associative algebras similar to \(U(sl 2)\) and Zhu's algebra \(A(V L)\)
\textit{S. P. Smith} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 322, 285-314 (1990; Zbl 0732.16019)] studied associative algebras \(R(f)\) generated by three generators \(A\), \(B\), \(H\) and defining relations \([H,A]=A\), \([H,B]=-B\), \([A,B]=f(H)\), where \(f(x)\) is a polynomial. In the paper under review the authors prove that Zhu's algebra \(A(V_L)\) [cf. \textit{Y. Zhu}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 9, 237-302 (1996; Zbl 0854.17034)] for the vertex operator algebra \(V_L\) associated to a positive definite even rank-one lattice \(L\) is a finite-dimensional semisimple quotient algebra of \(R(f)\) for some explicitly given polynomial \(f\). A generalization \(\bar A(L)\) of \(R(f)\) associated to a positive definite lattice \(L\) is also investigated. The authors establish the semisimplicity of \(\bar A(L)\) and construct all its irreducible modules. It is shown that \(\bar A(L)\) and \(A(V_L)\) are isomorphic for an arbitrary positive definite even lattice \(L\).
