Let \(\Gamma\) be a closed rectifiable Jordan curve, Lebesgue measurable and oriented counter-clockwise. Let \(\Gamma(t,\varepsilon)= \{\tau\in\Gamma:|\tau- t|< \varepsilon\}\). If \(\sup_{t\in\Gamma} \sup_{\varepsilon> 0} (|\Gamma(t, \varepsilon)|/\varepsilon)< \infty\) then \(\Gamma\) is said to be a Carleson curve. Consider the singular integral operator \[ (Sf)(t)= \lim_{\varepsilon\to 0} {1\over \pi i}\int_{\Gamma\setminus \Gamma(t,\varepsilon)} {f(\tau)\over \tau- t} d\tau,\quad t\in\Gamma,\quad f\in L^1(\Gamma) \] on a Carleson \(\Gamma\). The operator \(S\) is bounded in the space \(L^1(\Gamma, \omega)\), \(1< p<\infty\) if and only if the weight \(\omega\) belongs to the Muckenhoupt class \(A_p(\Gamma)\), i.e., \[ \sup_{t\in\Gamma} \sup_{\varepsilon> 0} \Biggl({1\over \varepsilon} \int_{\Gamma(t, \varepsilon)} \omega^p(\tau)|d\tau|\Biggr)^{1/p} \Biggl({1\over \varepsilon} \int_{\Gamma(t, \varepsilon} \omega^{-q}(\tau)|d\tau|\Biggr)^{1/q}< \infty, \] when \({1\over p}+{1\over q}= 1\). Let \({\mathfrak A}\) be the Banach algebra of singular integral operators generated by \(S\) and operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous functions. There is constructed the symbol calculus and proved Fredholm criterion and the index formula for operators \(A\in{\mathfrak A}\) on the space \(L_p(\Gamma, \omega)\) with the weight \(\omega\in A_p(\Gamma)\), where \(\Gamma\) is a Carleson curve.
