Abstract: For epsilon>0, we consider the Ginzburg-Landau functional for mathbbRN-valued maps defined in the unit ball BNsubsetmathbbRN with the vortex boundary data x on partialBN. In dimensions Ngeq7, we prove that for every epsilon>0, there exists a unique global minimizer uepsilon of this problem; moreover, uepsilon is symmetric and of the form uepsilon(x)=fepsilon(|x|)fracx|x| for xinBN.
