\(L^1\)-Dini conditions and limiting behavior of weak type estimates for singular integrals

Abstract: In 2006, Janakiraman [10] showed that if Omega with mean value zero on Sn−1 satisfies the condition [ sup_{|xi|=1}int_{S^{n-1}}|Omega( heta)-Omega( heta+deltaxi)|dsigma( heta)leq Cndeltaint_{S^{n-1}}|Omega( heta)|dsigma( heta),quad 0<delta<frac{1}{n}, (ast) ] then for the singular integral operator TOmega with homogeneous kernel, the following limiting behavior holds: [limlimits_{lambda ightarrow 0}lambda m({xinmathbb{R}^n:|T_Omega f(x)|>lambda})= frac{1}{n}|Omega|_{1}|f|_{1},quad ext{for} fin L^1(mathbb{R}^n) ext{with} fgeq 0. (astast)] In the present paper, we prove that if replacing the condition (ast) by more general condition, the L1-Dini condition, then the limiting behavior (astast) still holds for the singular integral TOmega. In particular, we give an example which satisfies the L1-Dini condition, but does not satisfy (ast). Hence, we improve essentially the above result given in [10]. To prove our conclusion, we show that the L1-Dini conditions defined respectively via the rotation and translation on mathbbRn are equivalent (see Theorem 2.5 below), which has its own interest in the theory of singular integrals. Moreover, similar limiting behavior for the fractional integral operator TOmega, alpha with homogeneous kernel is also established in this paper.

Let \(\Omega\) be a function on \(\mathbb{R}^n\backslash\{0\}\) satisfying the following conditions: for any \(\lambda\in(0,\infty)\) and \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\backslash\{0\}\), \[ \Omega(\lambda x)=\Omega(x); \] \[ \int_{\mathbb{S}^{n-1}}\Omega(\theta)\,d\sigma(\theta)=0. \] Assume further that \(\Omega\) satisfies the \(L^1\)-Dini condition, namely, \(\Omega\in L^1(\mathbb{S}^{n-1})\) and \(\int_0^1\frac{\omega_1(\delta)}{\delta}\,d\delta<\infty\), where \(\omega_1\) denotes the \(L^1\) integral modulus of continuity of \(\Omega\). Let \(\mu\) be an absolutely continuous signed measure on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with respect to the Lebesgue measure and \(|\mu|(\mathbb{R}^n)<\infty\). For any \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), define \[ T_\Omega \mu(x):=\text{ p. v. } \int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\frac{\Omega(x-y)}{|x-y|^n}\,d\mu(y). \] In this interesting article, the authors show that \[ \lim_{\lambda\to0^+}\lambda \mathrm{m}(\{x\in\mathbb{R}^n:\;|T_\Omega \mu(x)|>\lambda\})=\frac{1}{n}\|\Omega\|_{L^1(\mathbb{S}^{n-1})}|\mu(\mathbb{R}^n)|. \] This result essentially improves the known result by weaking the condition for \(\Omega\). Moreover, similar limiting behavior for the fractional integral operator with a homogeneous kernel was also obtained in this article.
