Introductory exposition (textbooks, tutorial papers, etc.) pertaining to algebraic geometry (14-01) Intersection theory, characteristic classes, intersection multiplicities in algebraic geometry (14C17) Stacks and moduli problems (14D23) Gromov-Witten invariants, quantum cohomology, Gopakumar-Vafa invariants, Donaldson-Thomas invariants (algebro-geometric aspects) (14N35)
Abstract: This note is intended to be a friendly introduction to virtual classes. We review virtual classes and we give a number of properties and applications. We also include a new virtual push-forward theorem and many computations of virtual classes in simple examples.
