Abstract: Let be -element sets in and let denote the convex hull of points in (for all ) which is a (possibly degenerate) simplex. Pach's selection theorem says that there are sets and a point in such that each and belongs to for every choice of in in . Here we show that this theorem does not admit a topological extension with linear size sets . However, there is a topological extension where each is of order .
