Abstract: Let $mathbbF$ be a field, and fix a $qinmathbbF$. The $q$-deformed Heisenberg algebra $mathcalH(q)$ is the unital associative algebra over $mathbbF$ with generators $A$, $B$ and a relation which asserts that $AB-qBA$ is the multiplicative identity in $mathcalH(q)$. We extend $mathcalH(q)$ into an algebra $mathcalR(q)$ defined by generators $A$, $B$ and a relation which asserts that $AB-qBA$ is central in $mathcalR(q)$. We identify all elements of $mathcalR(q)$ that are Lie polynomials in $A$, $B$.
