Abstract: Let be a field and , denote matrices such that, the entries of are either indeterminates over or and the entries of are indeterminates over which are different from those appearing in . We consider ideals of the form , which is the ideal generated by the homogeneous polynomials of degree given by the minors of the matrix . We prove that -sequences and regular sequences arise naturally as part of generators of for some special cases. We use this information to calculate the equations defining the Rees algebra of .
