The author studies a nonstationary Schrödinger-type equation by analyzing the solvability of the corresponding variational problem of simultaneously determining unknown complex-valued coefficients in the lower and nonlinear terms of the equation. A stable iterative algorithm for finding those coefficients is described, and a concrete example of determining the coefficients is included.
