Abstract: We analyze both the facial structure of the Gram spectrahedron and of the Hermitian Gram spectrahedron of a nonnegative binary form . We show that if is a polyhedral face of dimension then . Conversely, for all and we show that the Hermitian Gram spectrahedron of a general positive binary form with distinct roots contains a face which is a -simplex and whose extreme points are rank-one tensors. For all and the (symmetric) Gram spectrahedron of a general positive binary form contains a polyhedral face with .
