Abstract: Let E be a Moran set on mathbbR1 associated with a closed interval J and two sequences (nk)k=1infty and (mathcalCk=(ck,j)j=1nk)kgeq1. Let mu be the infinite product measure (Moran measure) on E associated with a sequence (mathcalPk)kgeq1 of positive probability vectors with mathcalPk=(pk,j)j=1nk,kgeq1. We assume that [ inf_{kgeq1}min_{1leq jleq n_k}c_{k,j}>0,;inf_{kgeq1}min_{1leq jleq n_k}p_{k,j}>0. ] For every ngeq1, let alphan be an n optimal set in the quantization for mu of order rin(0,infty) and Pa(alphan)ainalphan an arbitrary Voronoi partition with respect to alphan. For every ainalphan, we write Ia(alpha,mu):=intPa(alphan)d(x,alphan)rdmu(x) and [ underline{J}(alpha_n,mu):=min_{ainalpha_n}I_a(alpha,mu),; overline{J}(alpha_n,mu):=max_{ainalpha_n}I_a(alpha,mu). ] We show that underlineJ(alphan,mu),overlineJ(alphan,mu) and en,rr(mu)en+1,rr(mu) are of the same order as frac1nen,rr(mu), where en,rr(mu):=intd(x,alphan)rdmu(x) is the nth quantization error for mu of order r. In particular, for the class of Moran measures on mathbbR1, our result shows that a weaker version of Gersho's conjecture holds.
