Abstract: Let E=cupj=1l[a2j1,a2j], a1<a2<...<a2l, lgeq2 and set omega, where omegaj(infty) is the harmonic measure of [a2j1,a2j] at infinity. Let mu be a measure which is on E absolutely continuous and satisfies SzegH{o}'s-condition and has at most a finite number of point measures outside E, and denote by (Pn) and (mathcalQn) the orthonormal polynomials and their associated Weyl solutions with respect to dmu, satisfying the recurrence relation sqrtlambda2+ny1+n=(xalpha1+n)ynsqrtlambda1+ny1+n. We show that the recurrence coefficients have topologically the same convergence behavior as the sequence omega modulo 1; More precisely, putting alphalambda (alpha[fracl12]+1+n,..., alpha1+n,..., alpha[fracl22]+1+n, lambda[fracl22]+2+n, ...,lambda2+n, ..., lambda[fracl12]+2+n) we prove that alpha lambda converges if and only if omega converges modulo 1 and we give an explicit homeomorphism between the sets of accumulation points of alphalambda and omega modulo 1.
