Abstract: If X=X(t,xi) is the solution to the stochastic porous media equation in calOsubsetmathbbRd, 1ledle3, modelling the self-organized criticaity and Xc is the critical state, then it is proved that int09m(calOsetminuscalO0t)dt<9, mathbbPa.s. and limto9intcalO|X(t)Xc|dxi=ell<9,mathbbPa.s. Here, m is the Lebesgue measure and calOct is the critical region and Xc(xi)leX(0,xi) a.e. xiincalO. If the stochastic Gaussian perturbation has only finitely many modes (but is still function-valued), limto9intK|X(t)Xc|dxi=0 exponentially fast for all compact KsubsetcalO with probability one, if the noise is sufficiently strong. We also recover that in the deterministic case ell=0.
