Abstract: Let and be probability spaces, let be a sub--algebra of the product -algebra , let be a Banach space, and let . We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions in order that the conditional expectation with respect to defines a bounded linear operator from onto , the closed subspace in of all functions having a strongly -measurable representative.
