Abstract: We prove that, for an arbitrary topological space , the following two conditions are equivalent: (a) Every open cover of has a finite subset with dense union (b) is -pseudocompact, for every ultrafilter . Locally, our result asserts that if is weakly initially -compact, and , then is -rfrt pseudocompact, for every ultrafilter over any set of cardinality . As a consequence, if , then the product of any family of weakly initially -compact spaces is weakly initially -compact.
