Solvable number field extensions of bounded root discriminant

Abstract: Let be a number field and the absolute value of the discrimant of . We consider the root discriminant of extensions . We show that for any and any positive integer n, the set of length n solvable extensions of with root discriminant less than is finite. The result is motivated by the study of class field towers.
