Abstract: Let 1lem<n be integers, and let KsubsetmathbbRn be a self-similar set satisfying the strong separation condition, and with dimK=s>m. We study the a.s. values of the sm-dimensional Hausdorff and packing measures of KcapV, where V is a typical nm-dimensional affine subspace. For 0<ho<frac12 let Chosubset[0,1] be the attractor of the IFS fho,1,fho,2, where fho,1(t)=hocdott and fho,2(t)=hocdott+1ho for each tinmathbbR. We show that for certain numbers 0<a,b<frac12, for instance a=frac14 and b=frac13, if K=CaimesCb then typically we have mathcalHsm(KcapV)=0.
