Abstract: For ngeq2, let K=overlinemathbbQ(mathbbPn)=overlinemathbbQ(T1,ldots,Tn). Let E/K be the elliptic curve defined by a minimal Weiestrass equation y2=x3+Ax+B, with A,BinoverlinemathbbQ[T1,ldots,Tn]. There's a canonical height hathE on E(K) induced by the divisor (O), where O is the zero element of E(K). On the other hand, for each smooth hypersurface Gamma in mathbbPn such that the reduction mod Gamma of E, EGamma/overlinemathbbQ(Gamma) is an elliptic curve with the zero element OGamma, there is also a canonical height hathEGamma on EGamma(overlinemathbbQ(Gamma)) that is induced by (OGamma). We prove that for any PinE(K), the equality hathEGamma(PGamma)/degGamma=hathE(P) holds for almost all hypersurfaces in mathbbPn. As a consequence, we show that for infinitely many tinmathbbPn(overlinemathbbQ), the specialization map sigmat:E(K)ightarrowEt(overlinemathbbQ) is injective.
