Abstract: For every unit vector and every , let % % egin{displaymath} P_{sigma,r}=[-1,1]^dcap{tinRr^d:tcdotsigmale r} end{displaymath} % % denote the intersection of the cube with a half-space containing the origin . We prove that if is the -th power of an odd integer, then there exists a distribution of points in such that % % egin{displaymath} sup_{rge0} int_{Sigma_{d-1}}vertcard(PPPcap P_{sigma,r})-N2^{-d} vert P_{sigma,r}vertvert,ddsigma le c_d(log N)^d, end{displaymath} % % generalizing an earlier result of Beck and the first author.
