Abstract: For a linear operator in a Banach space let denote the point spectrum of , for finite be the set of all such that and let be the set of all for which is infinite-dimensional. It is shown that is , is and for each finite the set is the intersection of an and a set provided is closable and the domain of is separable and weakly -compact. For closed densely defined operators in a separable Hilbert space more detailed decomposition of the spectra is done and the algebra of all bounded linear operators on is decomposed into Borel parts. In particular, it is shown that the set of all closed range operators on is Borel.
