Abstract: For a finite abelian group , a nonempty subset of , and a positive integer , we let denote the -fold sumset of ; that is, is the collection of sums of not-necessarily-distinct elements of . Furthermore, for a positive integer , we set . We say that is a generating set of if there is a positive integer for which . The -critical number of is defined as the smallest positive integer for which holds for every -subset of ; similarly, is the smallest positive integer for which holds for every -subset of . We define as the smallest positive integer for which holds for every generating -subset of ; is defined similarly. The value of has been determined by this author for all and , and was introduced and resolved for some special cases by Klopsch and Lev. Here we determine the remaining two quantities in all cases.
