Closed and approximate solutions to the Schrödinger, Dirac, Klein-Gordon and other equations of quantum mechanics (81Q05) Strong interaction, including quantum chromodynamics (81V05) Electromagnetic interaction; quantum electrodynamics (81V10) Bethe-Salpeter and other integral equations arising in quantum theory (81Q40)
Abstract: I review, in a personal perspective, the history of the theory of non-relativistic bound states in QED and QCD from the Bethe-Salpeter equation to the construction of effective field theories.
