Abstract: Let be a Noetherian ring, an ideal and a finitely generated -module. In this note we would like to prove the following statement. Let be a collection of ideals satisfying : (i) , for all , (ii) , for all and (iii) , whenever . Then is independent of , for sufficiently large. Note that the set of prime ideals is finite, so the issue at hand is the realization that the primes in extit{do not} behave periodically, as one might have expected, say if were a Noetherian -algebra generated in degrees greater than one. We also give a multigraded version of our results.
