Abstract: We consider the rotation number $ho(t)$ of a diffeomorphism $f_t=R_{t}circf$, where $R_t$ is the rotation by $t$ and $f$ is an orientation preserving $C^{i}nfty$ diffeomorphism of the circle $S^1$. We shall show that if $ho(t)$ is irrational ${\displaystyle }$limsup_{t' o t}( ho(t')- ho(t))/(t'-t)geq 1.${\displaystyle }$
