Abstract: Let 0leu0(x)inL1(R2)capLinfty(R2) be such that u0(x)=u0(|x|) for all |x|ger1 and is monotone decreasing for all |x|ger1 for some constant r1>0 and essinf2Br1(0)u0geesssupR2setminusBr2(0)u0 for some constant r2>r1. Then under some mild decay conditions at infinity on the initial value u0 we will extend the result of P. Daskalopoulos, M.A. del Pino and N. Sesum cite{DP2}, cite{DS}, and prove the collapsing behaviour of the maximal solution of the equation ut=Deltalogu in R2imes(0,T), u(x,0)=u0(x) in R2, near its extinction time T=intR2u0dx/4pi.
