Abstract: The Somos-5 sequence is defined by a0=a1=a2=a3=a4=1 and am=fracam1am4+am2am3am5 for mgeq5. We relate the arithmetic of the Somos-5 sequence to the elliptic curve E:y2+xy=x3+x22x and use properties of Galois representations attached to E to prove the density of primes p dividing some term in the Somos-5 sequence is equal to frac508710752.
