Abstract: The paper deals with the equation Deltau+a(x)u+b(x)uqup=0, uinH1(RN), whith Nge2, 1<q<p,p<N+2overN2 if Nge3, infa>0, a(x)oainfty and b(x)o0 as |x|oinfty. When a(x)leainfty and b(x)=0 only a finite number of positive solutions to the problem is reasonably expected. Here we prove that the presence of a nonzero term b(x)uq with b(x)geq0,b(x)eq0, under suitable assumptions on the decay rates of a and b, allows to obtain infinitely many positive solutions.
