Abstract: For a simply laced and hyperbolic Kac--Moody group over a commutative ring with 1, we consider a map from a finite presentation of obtained by Allcock and Carbone to a representation--theoretic construction corresponding to an integrable representation with dominant integral weight . When , we prove that this map extends to a group homomorphism We prove that the kernel of the map lies in and if the group homomorphism is injective, then .
