Abstract: Let B be an nimesn real expanding matrix and mathcalD be a finite subset of mathbbRn with 0inmathcalD. The self-affine set K=K(B,mathcalD) is the unique compact set satisfying the set-valued equation . In the case where extcard(mathcalD)=lvertdetBvert, we relate the Lebesgue measure of K(B,mathcalD) to the upper Beurling density of the associated measure mu=limlimitssoinftysumlimitsell0,dotsc,ells1inmathcalDdeltaell0+Bell1+dotsb+Bs1ells1. If, on the other hand, extcard(mathcalD)<lvertdetBvert and B is a similarity matrix, we relate the Hausdorff measure mathcalHs(K), where s is the similarity dimension of K, to a corresponding notion of upper density for the measure mu.
