Abstract: The purpose of this note is to characterize the asymptotic dimension of metric spaces in terms similar to Property A of Yu: If is a metric space and , then the following conditions are equivalent: [a.] , [b.] For each there is and finite non-empty subsets , , such that if and the projection of onto contains at most elements for all , [c.] For each there is and finite non-empty subsets , , such that if and the projection of onto contains at most elements for all .
